Make it Till you Make it

You know the aphorism “fake it till you make it”?

Well Chase Jarvis has a better one.

“Make it till you make it”!

Hey says:

“Some people say, “Fake it till you make it.” Forget that. Make it till you make it. Creators create. I doesn’t matter who you know, what schools you attended, which parties you’re invited to, or what you’re wearing. Creators create. Action is identity. You become what you do. You don’t need permission form anybody to call yourself a writer, entrepreneur, or musician. You just need to write, build a business, or make music. You’ve go to do the verb to be the noun.”

If you look at the etymology of the word identity and it’s ancient Latin roots.

It literally means “repeated beingness”

Who you are, your sense of your self, is largely formed by what you do. Repeatedly.

Your accomplishments have a LOT more to do with an IDENTITY shift than anything else.
When your identity profoundly shifts so does your behaviors and then your results.

Identity first

Then behaviors

Then results

How’s your Identity?
Are you limiting yourself in unnecessary ways?
Maybe telling yourself you’re just not creative enough, skilled enough or whatever.

And that’s keeping you from moving into your repeated beingness?

The words you tell yourself matter a lot.

Like Henry Ford said

Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.

And Seneca says:

It is not because things are difficult that you do not dare. It is because you do not dare that things are difficult.

You have what it takes. Your creative enough. You can gain the skills. You can do the work.

You CAN make it till you make it.

You CAN do the verb to be the noun.
